Urban hike from home to see the rose parade floats at the Waterfront Park. Several impressive navy vessels docked there too. Followed the river and then went into the Pearl for lunch at Irving St – rose and fried chicken!! All up hill from there to the Rose gardens and then a relaxing light rail ride home.
Nice 10 mile r/t hike through old forest and an occasional spring/creek. Every now and then there was a glimpse of the Columbia. Unfortunately you can hear the sound of I-84 for much of the hike. First 1.5 miles from the TH at Herman Creek Campground had a noticeably steep grade.
Hiked the first half of the trail today – @ 12 miles RT. Beautiful old growth forest – especially in the first few miles. Moderately easy trail. Would be a good place for younger visitors.
enjoyed pick up parties at Alexana and Coleen Clemons. Through Heathers connections, we were able to stay at the Ken Wright lofts in Carlton. also enjoyed a lot of ken wright wine! learned that his son started purple hands.
ran our second half marathon today. Blooms to brews in Woodland, wa. nice flat route. paul-2:16 and Susan 2:46. Michelle Blackwell joined us, but not sure what her time was.
Michelle took us out for dinner at the Laurelhurst Market. the halibut was supper tasty as were the Brussels sprouts. Susan hat the skirt steak and it was good enough to eat up the whole thing!
went to the se wine collective for our quarterly wine tasting. invited the neighbors across the street. very enjoyable evening.
I has the single vineyard Vincent which as fantastic.
walk on the Santa Monica beach, brunch at Back On the Beach Cafe with Lili. After lunch, we decided to drive up to paradise point. The parking lot was full, so we continued down to Zuma Beach for a nice beach walk. On the way back, we checked out Paradise Cove again. $40 for parking! parking was full, so we bailed and headed down to Dukes for an early dinner. We decided to wait to sit on the patio. after getting seated, a great table along the sides opened up. apparently, there was a third wait list for those tables. next time.
