had a team dinner at the lodge at Multnomah Falls after we finished up our meeting downtown. View from the Vista House
Hiked around Fort Stevens on Sunday @ 12 miles! Spent some time down on the beach, saw the underwhelming “shipwreck”, slogged thru some grassy trails that made me sorry I’d opted for a skirt, and logged quite some miles on a pace bike path.
The history and the bunkers were really interesting and the lake was pretty. Had hoped to grab a quick fish and chips from Bowpickers, but with a line down the block, passed for a bite at the Rogur Ale House instead before heading home.
Tried a new recipe and it came out quite well! Used blueberry jam – next time I might try apricot.
Republic of Jam is in Carlton, OR.
If I’d had a mason jar with me tonight, I could have caught enough lightening bugs to make a night light…
Smells of summer – gardenia, magnolia, honeysuckle.. Creek water, cut grass, and hot asphalt.
Not sure why I packed a flat iron. My naturally curly hair paired with high humidity is having no part of it!!
Urban hike from home to see the rose parade floats at the Waterfront Park. Several impressive navy vessels docked there too. Followed the river and then went into the Pearl for lunch at Irving St – rose and fried chicken!! All up hill from there to the Rose gardens and then a relaxing light rail ride home.
Nice 10 mile r/t hike through old forest and an occasional spring/creek. Every now and then there was a glimpse of the Columbia. Unfortunately you can hear the sound of I-84 for much of the hike. First 1.5 miles from the TH at Herman Creek Campground had a noticeably steep grade.
Hiked the first half of the trail today – @ 12 miles RT. Beautiful old growth forest – especially in the first few miles. Moderately easy trail. Would be a good place for younger visitors.
